Didgeridoo beginners hop on here!
Starting out with a cheap didgeridoo for beginners
On our site, didgeridoo beginners will find great didgeridoos for an excellent price. Our cheapest didgeridoo is made of bamboo and costs less than 30 euros (about 35$ or 25 pound). That's a great buy for a beautiful object with traditional ethnic decoration. Many beginners will get on board a bit higher with a complete didgeridoo starter kit. This will buy you everything you need as a novice didgeridoo player.
Didgeridoo Starter Kit
If you want a better chance of succeeding as a didgeridoo player, we recommend you invest in a didgeridoo starter kit. In addition to a didgeridoo, you will also get a didgeridoo sleeve and a didgeridoo stand to safely store your instrument. The package also includes a bag of beeswax strips to cover your mouthpiece for optimum and comfortable sealing. Plus our 'How to didgeridoo' instructional DVD, in which didge teacher Niels de Lang of Australian Treasures explains the basics of didgeridoo playing, including circular breathing.
Why do you want to start with the didgeridoo?
Which didgeridoo you should buy as a beginner depends partly on what you want to achieve. What is your goal? Let's discuss a few reasons to pick up the didgeridoo.
The unique didgeridoo sound
A didge is of course a very special instrument, from which a more experienced player can conjure up the most peculiar sounds. No other instrument sounds like it, sometimes like an almost animal-like growl or like a kangaroo, dingo, kookaburra or sometimes like a motorbike accelerating, or thunder rumbling in the distance. When the didgeridoo speaks, your imagination takes off.
Didgeridoo as therapy
Some people play didgeridoo as a therapy against snoring. They train their breathing technique and the muscles which are related to this by playing the didgeridoo. We have a special page dedicated to the proven effective therapy against sleep apnoea and snoring. In principle, this group of didgeridoo players could also buy a piece of PVC pipe for five euros at the DIY shop. After all, it is the breathing technique that counts, not the appearance. Nevertheless, if you want to practice breathing, you might as well use a real didgeridoo, with a rounded wooden mouthpiece, covered with beeswax to protect your lips.
Didgeridoo for meditation
Although the aboriginal didgeridoo was intended purely as a musical instrument, accompanied by percussion and singing, many people find the sound and especially the personal creation of this sound to have a certain hypnotic effect. You get into the 'didgeridoo zone' while playing, think of nothing, let the instrument run free and find mental peace. As avid didge players, we recognize this rush, although for us musical creativity comes first.
Making music together
We see the didgeridoo as a full-fledged musical instrument. A surprisingly versatile instrument that you can play together with others, even as a beginner. Once you have mastered the basic techniques, you can already contribute to the didge orchestra. As you gain experience, you will also learn to improvise with rhythms and melodies, sometimes adding your voice, for even more timbre.
Starting the didge... just didgeri-do it!
As mentioned above, you can start playing the didgeridoo on a limited budget. Especially if you choose a combined package with an instructional DVD, you'll soon learn to produce a fairly constant basicdrone. What else you do with it and what you get out of it... that is all up to you!read less keyboard_arrow_up
